Day 1

We are off! We made it out of Silver Spring at the crack of 10am Sunday morning, despite the overflowing washing machine, the lure of a beautiful day of deck sitting, and thought that we have all the time in the world. Ms. Pepe lounged surprisingly unaware of the upcoming adventure and was scooped up by Lisa on her way out the door. We bid goodbye to our favorite neighbor Sue, and burned rubber out onto Georgia Ave.

At first, Pepe thought she'd like to take a trip:

Then she realized this was going to be a long trip:

465 miles and 8 hours and 10 minutes later, we arrived at the door of Maureen. The traffic up 95, through MD, DE, NJ, NY, CT, and MA was uneventful, unless you counted the 15 roadkills we spotted. Several raccoons, a deer, a few birds and an ugly lot of unidentified animals were scattered along the Eastern corridor.

We're spending some time visting friends and family here in New England, then we head out west. We'll keep you posted on what's next.

It's good to see some things never change! Pepper is, once again, the traveling kitty! The kids got a kick out of her photos--especially the moody one :) Hope you're enjoying the prelude to your travels. We're thinking of you and can't wait to see/hear about all your adventures along the way--we also can't wait to see you--we're honored that we'll be a stop on the McAllistour!

Guess you're really on the road. For a moment I thought you changed your mind and came back for Chloe and me. After I waved goodbye I went out for some brief retail therapy. When I returned and pulled into our driveway your front door was wide open. My fleeting thought was that you took Mac up on his offer to use his cool camper which could carry ALL of us and you were just waiting for me. Alas- it became clear that "someone" had left the front door open.(no pointing fingers!)May many doors open for you in the weeks to come-Bon Voyage,Your favorite neighbor (PS I made sure your home was intact and I locked the door)
