Border Crossing

No matter how innocent you are, you feel guilty talking to the border crossing guard coming back into the U.S. Going into Canada our exchange with the Canadian guard was as follows: Guard: Where are you going? Us: Niagara Falls. Guard: Go ahead. Coming back into the States our exchange was:

Guard: Where are you coming from?
Us: Niagara Falls
Guard: What were you doing there?
Us: Visiting
Guard: Visiting who?
Us: Just sightseeing
Guard: How long were you here?
Us: One day
Guard: You drove all the way from Maryland for one day?
Us: No, we’re on a trip around the country.
Guard: For how long?
Us: 10 weeks
Guard: Don’t you have jobs?
Us: (sweat beginning to drip down our faces)…Yes, we took time off.
Guard: What do you do?
Tim: I work at a law firm.
Guard: You?
Lisa: I work at a University.
Guard: Go ahead.
