Lewis & Clark

We followed a good part of the Lewis & Clark Trail today (aka I-29) from about Council Bluffs, Iowa to Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Along the way, in Sioux City, IA, we stopped for a lovely luncheon of salads and chicken strips (a goal of our travels is for at least one salad or veggieful meal). Luckily for us, right there in Sioux City, Iowa, is the Lews & Clark Interpretive Center! We spent several hours pondering the adventurers, the Journey of Discovery, the travails and hardships, the joys and wonders of this band of hearty explorers. How thrilling and exciting it must have been to be walking along this countryside, not knowing what was over the next hill, or if the native people were going to hunt you down and kill you or wanted to trade and learn from you.

"We all believe that we are about to enter on the most perilous and dificuelt part of our Voyage, yet I see no one repineing." -- William Clark, June 20, 1805.
Here is a statue of the great explorers, with their dog, Seaman:

Few people know the other adventurers in the Corps of Discovery, but if you look closely, you see one of the great explorers with them:

We miss you tons but will keep following you.

Okay, it's now Wednesday and you haven't had an entry since Sunday...you're either having way too much fun or you've encountered some terrible trouble!!! Hopefully, it's the former, but I tell you, I'm going into McAllistour withdrawal here--I like to check in on you guys (when I'm not busy dodging tropical storms and tornado warnings!!). Hope all's well--know I'm thinking of you :)
